“Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.”- Marilyn Monroe

Hey! I'm Riley and I'm one of your senior editors. I can't believe I’m here right now. I look back at these past two years in The Clarion, and I have absolutely no idea how I’m where I’m at right now. I honestly didn’t even mean to join this class, and I certainly didn’t expect to become an editor. It took a LOT of coaxing from my best friend, and fellow co-editor, Jordan, for me to stay. But I’m very glad I did.

I think about this being my senior year and I’m very conflicted. For one, I can’t wait to go and start the rest of my life after graduation (both high school and college) by becoming something within the legal field (a lawyer, attorney, etc.). I also have absolutely no idea where I’m applying at the moment. But I’m really sad about having to leave the wonderful groups I’ve been a part of these past three years. Almost all of the groups I have been a part of in high school have been so accepting of everyone even in times when I can’t accept myself. These groups are theatre, newspaper (obviously), Spanish club, the speech team, and NHS.

Although these groups fill up most of my time, I still manage to spend my days dragging out the cycles of time where I tremendously procrastinate and do other seemingly more important things such as playing the Sims 4 and endlessly scrolling TikTok. Work also tends to take up a lot of my time. Even if trying to bag groceries while simultaneously  trying not to bust out into song and dance does not seem that difficult for most, it has been the hardest part of my job. They play some pretty bomb songs at Kroger.

I can’t wait to see just how much we can do this year, and I wish all of the new staff writers well.
