BOWS AND BASKETBALL
CHS Spartanettes Dance at Ball State
April 19, 2019
One foot in front of the other, the CHS dancers head down the stairs to walk onto the gym floor. Receiving their que, they walk out onto the Worthern Arena floor, the Connersville Spartanettes lined up at center court, patiently awaiting their home routine music, to begin echoing throughout the stadium. When the beat dropped, their worries melted away and they performed like nobody was watching. When the song ended, the crowd went wild with support.
On February twenty-third, the Spartanettes gave a halftime performance at the Ball State Cardinals VS the Central Michigan Chippewa’s basketball game. “Getting to perform in front of such a large crowd was incredible. I think we all gained something from that,” freshman, Claire Stinger stated.
Their routine had been previously perfected, as it was a home routine they learned immediately after making the team in the summer of 2018.
“Dancing at a college game is very different than high school. The screen that shown us to the whole place was very scary, it made us so nervous,” Stinger stated. Even though the dancers’ nerves were through the roof, they definitely brought the roof down with their performance. They were invited back to perform next year, and without a doubt will put in just as much work as they did this year.
